Teaching Conflict Resolution in your Classroom
Connect to Common Core
Teaching conflict resolution in the classroom is a service provided by Beyond Classroom Conflict, a branch of A Place in the Conversation overseen by Nancy Nicewonger.
Teaching conflict resolution principles can also be time used to fulfill Common Core Standards. Teachers can use the concepts of resolution and relationship building while teaching reading, writing, speaking, listening and problem solving objectives. Connect to Common Core will list an objective with lesson plan ideas. The lesson plan can be adapted and used in the classroom with your students. While easy to use, these lesson ideas will also allow you to expand on your student’s knowledge of ways to build healthy relationships.

Teachable Moments
There are many times during our year when we can remind our students of conflict resolution foundations while teaching our academic standards and objectives. You can take these Teachable Moments and integrate them into your teaching calendar. Using the resolution principles across the curriculum will keep the ideas fresh for your class and allow for expanding on the resolution principles you have taught previously. Enjoy using and adapting these into your program.
